The Great Sand Dunes National Park contains the tallest sand dunes in North America - some are more than 200 meters high. It is in south-central Colorado, near the source of the Rio Grande and at the feet of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. We stayed in Alamosa, and arrived early in the morning, when the dunes were still wet from some light overnight rain.
