Marakele NP
This was our third visit to Marakele NP, just outside of Thabazimbi, Limpopo. Marakele is not the most intesting park for game viewing (they have the big five and all the smaller critters but finding any of them can be a challenge) but the accommodation is one of the best in the SANPark system.
Tlopi Tented Camp in the western section of the park consists of only 10 units arranged along the shore of a small dam. Each unit has a canvas sleeping tent (complete with bathroom) and a kitchen, connected by a wooden deck overlooking the dam. Of course it goes without saying that the deck comes with a large braai.
Normally safari requires lots of driving to find the action. In Marakele, one can spend the day on the deck, waiting for thirsty game to visit us. And when the game fails to pitch, the sunset and moon rise still deliver.
